WAEC SSCE: What is All About and how to pass it

First, the full meaning of WAEC is the West African Examination Council, the west African Examination council is an external exams that was establish by law to determine the interest of the public, to conduct award certificate comparable to those of equivalent Examining authorities, which was established in 1952. The west African Examination council (WAEC) is external examination which every candidate must write so that you issued a certificate, if you want to more. They also formed an endowment fund, to contribute to education in West Africa, through lectures and aid to those who cannot afford education. Since established it continues to be one of the biggest and most globally recognized exams in West Africa. After establishing the examination council, the council called the first meeting in Accra, Ghana in March 1953. In that same meeting, five committees were formed to assist the council. These committees are the Administrative and Finance Committee, School Examinations Committee, Public Service Examinations Committee, The Professional, Technical and Commercial Examinations Committee, and the Local Committee. The west African Examination is the exam that you cannot write anyhow or without reading; it is the exam that you will shine your eyes before you write it most of the people get afraid before or during exam because they did not read their books. The Examination was made for the school candidate or for the private candidate(GCE) . The WAEC council member of the committees were divided largely from educational  institution in the countries.

  • International Committees

The International Committees deliberate upon matters affecting all member countries and co-ordinate and harmonize national views in determining policies affecting the Council as a whole.

  • National Committees                                                            National Committees deal with matters relating to their respective countries and serve as for a for the articulation of national views on issues affecting the policy of the Council as a whole.                                                                                         Remember the exam was conducted in different four categories which include;
  • International Examination
  • National Examination
  • Examination conducted in uniform with other examining bodies
  • Examination conducted on behalf of other examining bodies

The west African Examination Council is not only in Nigeria but in other countries; such as Liberia, Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is an examination board that conducts the West African Senior School Certificate Examination, for University and Jamb entry examination in West Africa countries. Established in 1952, the council has contributed to education in Anglophonic countries of West Africa (Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and the Gambia), with the number of examinations they have coordinated, and certificates they have issued. They also formed an endowment fund, to contribute to the education in West Africa, through lectures, and aid to those who cannot afford education. The council issues credible and reliable certificates to candidates that participate in the Examinations. And the standard of this certificates matches with that of the United Kingdom. This is because the WAEC Ordinance empowered the council to conduct Examinations and award certificates, provided the certificates don’t have a lower standard compared to their equivalent certificates of examining authorities in the United Kingdom.
